Business Development Representative

Virtual Peaker is looking for a high-performing Business Development Representative that will help solve the climate crisis by supporting our mission of building the utility of the future. The intermittent nature of wind and solar energy makes it much harder for electric utilities to keep the grid in balance. Renewable energy is going to save humanity, and Virtual Peaker is part of the solution.


Job Description

As the Business Development Representative you will be responsible for engaging with prospects to qualify potential customers for our Account Executive team. This position is ideal for someone looking to enter a business development or sales role at a rapidly growing B2B startup doing big things.


Role Responsibilities

  • Become conversant in the utility sector - specifically as it relates to DERs, DERMS, Demand Response, and decarbonization
  • Research and prospect Companies that meet Virtual Peaker’s ideal customer profile
  • Plan, execute, and iterate on multi-channel outbound campaigns
  • Engage and qualify inbound leads and outbound prospects
  • Effectively partner and work across the Customer Solutions and Marketing teams
  • Support Marketing events through outreach and attendance
  • Maintain complete and accurate records in the CRM and adjacent tools


Education & Experience

An ideal candidate will have some combination of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required
  • 2+ years of sales/business development experience preferred
  • Business to business communication and prospecting
  • Active listening skills
  • Research experience
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational, and prioritization skills
  • Coachability, accountability, and helpfulness
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Experience using and maintaining a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
  • Basic understanding of Software as a Service (SaaS)
  • Commitment to grow a career in technology sales
  • Curiosity, creativity, and a thirst for knowledge
  • Consultative approach to relationship building
