The Department of Plant and Soil Sciences in the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food, and Environment works towards developing sustainable food and crop production practices in Kentucky. The Grain Crops Agronomic Extension Associate is located at Lexington, KY. This person is key in assisting two Extension Faculty for developing and delivering innovative educational programs to producers, county agents, industry professional and any other interested parties on profitable and sustainable corn, soybean, and wheat production in Kentucky. This person will visit county extension agents, farmers, and other partners across Kentucky for various extension programming efforts. This person will coordinate programs such as organized trainings for county extension agents and summarizing the corn, soybean and wheat yield contests jointly sponsored by University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service, Kentucky Corn Growers Association, Kentucky Soybean Promotion Board, & Kentucky Small Grain Growers Association. This person will assist some with applied research, mainly to provide an understanding of how research is conducted and to better discuss research results with county extension agents, farmers and other interested parties.
