The Business Development Representative is responsible for contacting leads, understanding their environment, suggesting products and services, or setting up a conversation with the lead and the Sales team for more complex sales. This role contributes to the overall growth of the organization by generating quality leads and engaging effectively with prospects.
What does a day in the life of a Business Development Representative look like?
- Respond promptly and professionally to all new business opportunities inquiries via phone, email, or chat
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within targeted markets and industries
- Generate high-quality leads through various channels, including cold calling, email, social media and other networking events and platforms
- Evaluate leads and opportunities to determine their fit with the organization’s target client and ensure they meet minimum criteria
- Initiate and maintain meaningful conversations with potential clients to understand their needs, challenges and objectives
- Conduct in-depth research to create a solid understanding of the organization’s products/services and effectively communicate the value proposition to potential clients
- Foster a collaborative environment with clients showcasing partnership, communication and engaging conversations on a frequent basis
- Adhere to company policies and procedures
- Meet or exceed performance targets for related KPIs
- Continuously improves knowledge of products, services, and processes by participating in training programs and continuous learning modules
- Collaborate with other departments as needed to resolve customer issues
- Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers and colleagues at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned
What are the required qualifications for a Business Development Representative?
- Previous sales, lead generation, business development representative experience or equivalent
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong Negotiation skills
- Proficient in using computers and various software applications
Having these qualifications are helpful, but not required
- Previous experience in the call center environment
- Experience with SaaS subscription-based sales
- Experience supporting customers via phone calls, chat and email
- Familiar with CRM systems and practices
