Type of Contract: Full-Time

The General Accounting Specialist II will be responsible for maintaining and analyzing financial records, preparing reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

What does a day in the life of a General Accounting Specialist II look like?

  • Process a high volume of accounting transactions efficiently and accurately, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries
  • Follow directions on method and processes of account reconciliations, trouble-shooting and resolving escalated issues as needed
  • Respond to customer emails and calls in a courteous, professional, and timely manner
  • Reconcile bank statements and identify discrepancies
  • Prepare and maintain accurate accounting reports and documentation
  • Own complex account reconciliations during the month-end closing procedures
  • Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal accounting controls
  • Stay up-to-date on company policies and procedures related to accounting practices
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures
  • Meet or exceed performance targets for related KPIs
  • Continuously improve knowledge of products, services, and processes by participating in training programs and continuous learning modules
  • Collaborate with other departments as needed
  • Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers and colleagues at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What are the required qualifications of a General Accounting Specialist II?

  • Associate's degree in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in a general accounting role
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent data entry and mathematical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) is a plus
