The General Accounting Specialist II will be responsible for maintaining and analyzing financial records, preparing reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
What does a day in the life of a General Accounting Specialist II look like?
- Process a high volume of accounting transactions efficiently and accurately, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries
- Follow directions on method and processes of account reconciliations, trouble-shooting and resolving escalated issues as needed
- Respond to customer emails and calls in a courteous, professional, and timely manner
- Reconcile bank statements and identify discrepancies
- Prepare and maintain accurate accounting reports and documentation
- Own complex account reconciliations during the month-end closing procedures
- Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal accounting controls
- Stay up-to-date on company policies and procedures related to accounting practices
- Adhere to company policies and procedures
- Meet or exceed performance targets for related KPIs
- Continuously improve knowledge of products, services, and processes by participating in training programs and continuous learning modules
- Collaborate with other departments as needed
- Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers and colleagues at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned
What are the required qualifications of a General Accounting Specialist II?
- Associate's degree in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience in a general accounting role
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Excellent data entry and mathematical skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) is a plus
