Salary Range:

  • Associate Level License (LPA, LPCA, CSW, AMFT): $45,833 – $51,562

  • Independent Level License (LPP, LPCC, LCSW, LMFT): $54,166 – $60,937


Position Summary:

The School-Based Therapist provides psychotherapy services to individuals referred for substance use or emotional challenges within a school setting. The therapist may work with individuals, families, or groups and must hold an independent license or be under supervision to practice independently. The role requires maintaining a client caseload, completing accurate clinical documentation, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support student well-being.


Educational Requirements:
  • Licensed Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Counseling, Psychiatric Certified-Registered Nurse, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, or Licensed Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

  • Must comply with Kentucky Administrative Regulations and continuing education requirements for the respective licensing board.

  • Psychiatric Mental Health Accreditation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center preferred but not required.

  • Compliance with all supervision requirements as per licensing board.


Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide psychotherapy to individuals with substance use or emotional issues.

  • Work independently or under supervision to ensure high-quality care.

  • Conduct therapy with individuals, families, or groups as needed.

  • Adhere to all Pathways policies and procedures.

  • Maintain an active caseload with timely and accurate clinical documentation, including:

    • Diagnostic Screening Assessment

    • Health Assessment (initial and annual)

    • Bio-Psychosocial Assessment (initial and annual)

    • Treatment Plan and Service Plan Reviews

    • Continuing Care Plans

    • Termination Summaries

  • Participate in staffing, case conferences, and consultations.

  • Fulfill other duties as outlined in the current job description.


Skills and Knowledge:
  • Experience in behavioral health settings preferred.

  • Proficient in electronic health records and other digital tools.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.


Work Schedule:
  • Minimum of 37.5 hours per week.
