Position Summary
The Family Training Coordinator is a full-time, grant-funded role reporting to the Director of Family Partnership. This position supports the implementation of curricula focused on cradle-to-career competencies, family engagement practices, and P-12 education. Serving the New Hampshire Statewide Family Engagement Center and other PRI projects, the Coordinator will collaborate with PRI Instructional Designers, schools, and key partners to develop training for families, Local Education Agencies (LEAs), State Education Agencies (SEAs), Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), and other stakeholders.
As a family engagement subject matter expert, the Family Training Coordinator will design training programs aligned with the Epstein Framework for Six Types of Family Involvement, the Dual-Capacity Framework for Family-School Partnerships, and Parent Nation principles. The role also incorporates Results-Based Facilitation and Accountability frameworks in partnership meetings, improvement strategies, and project design activities. The position leads and operates with the goal that All Rural Students Succeed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities

- Collaborate with Family Partnership staff to maintain an expert-level understanding of evidence-based family engagement practices
- Partner with Family Engagement Support Specialists and the Director to develop, maintain, and share a comprehensive library of family engagement best practices for both internal and external partners
- Support the Director in establishing and managing PRI Communities of Practice for family engagement professionals and families
- Build the capacity of PRI staff and partners to implement family engagement activities that promote family and student success
- Serve as the team’s content expert on the National Network of Partnership Schools
- Collaborate with Family Partnership staff and across the organization to identify training needs for families, Local Education Agencies (LEAs), State Education Agencies (SEAs), Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), and other stakeholders
- Develop written materials, including newsletters, training modules, website content, and social media posts, focused on family engagement
- Work with the Family Engagement Instructional Designer to create curricula, instructional programs, content, and assessment tools
- Collect data from training sessions and share results to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Ensure program activities and services are informed by quantitative and qualitative feedback from local participants
- Deliver training and provide related curricula to PRI staff, LEAs, SEAs, families, and partners using research-based methods and programming
- Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist and support in the attainment of our mission, All Rural Students Succeed
Position Location & Schedule
The Family Training Coordinator will be based in the New England region of the United States, specifically in one of the following states: New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, or Maine. This role is primarily remote with local, state and national travel required. Approximately 15% of time will be devoted to travel in New Hampshire, and an additional 15% of time will be devoted to national travel.
Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET with in-office, hybrid and/or remote work a possibility. Because of the nature of the responsibility to schools, partners, funders, and to the service region, individual offices or departments may have operating hours that extend beyond this period and may include evening and/or weekend hours.
Minimum Qualifications
Education required to ensure success in this position:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, other human services, or education related field
Experience required to ensure success in this position:
- Three years of experience providing direct services to families and children
- Three years of experience in providing training to educators and/or families
- Experience in effectively working with rural schools, families, and communities
Special skills, knowledge and abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of Statewide Family Engagement Centers, the Dual Capacity Framework, Parent Nation, and the Community School Model
- Demonstrated knowledge of the whole-child approach of creating environments that are supportive, safe, healthy, challenging, and empowering to help students thrive
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Superior interpersonal and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to cross boundaries of race, class, ethnic origin and personal philosophy; capacity to work effectively with a broad range of constituencies
- The skills to effectively represent Partners for Rural Impact in meetings for sharing knowledge, collaborating and building partnerships
- Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of training best practices and adult learning
License, certification, or registration necessary:
- Valid driver’s license
- Successfully complete pre-employment background check
Physical requirements:
- Ability to work in a high energy office
- Ability to accurately communicate and exchange information with partners, stakeholders, and/or meeting participants
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs
- Ability to travel independently by car and plane regionally and nationally
- Ability to operate standard office equipment
- Ability to operate motor vehicle
