Position Summary

This is a key-full-time position with the Partners for Rural Impact Leslie County Schools “Full-Service Community Schools (FSCS) Initiative.” Reporting to the FSCS PI, the Project Director will lead the project to ensure stakeholders are adequately informed of FSCS activities and services, watching for duplication of services. The Project Director will manage implementation of FSCS initiatives in order to improve the quality of elementary and secondary education at the school and help all children meet challenging academic content and academic achievement standards. The Project Director will engage in joint planning that entails a full-time commitment and ensures children are: 1) prepared for Kindergarten; 2) achieving academically, and; 3) safe, healthy, and supported by engaged parents. The Project Director is charged with overseeing partnerships with academic, social, and health services organizations and other public or private entities that will ensure the project meets the stated goals and objectives. The position leads and operates with the goal that All Rural Students Succeed.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the project to include the daily operation of the program through hiring, supervising, training, and guiding staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of program activities.
  • Develop and refine program operations to ensure that objectives are met.
  • Ensure the program is in compliance with the DOE guidelines.
  • Ensure the project is operated in a fiscally prudent manner and is in compliance with all fiscal requirements.
  • Work with the Education Agency, Regional Service Centers, partner districts, evaluators and data contractors to implement the FSCS data system; ensure the data drives services; and ensure continuous improvement of services.
  • Compile all required reports accurately and timely.
  • Provide leadership to the FSCS Partnership Council.
  • Identify and engage partners in supporting the FSCS model; develop a sustainability plan to expand and sustain the most effective programs
  • Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist and support in the attainment of our mission, All Rural Students Succeed

Position Location & Schedule

This position will serve Lee, Menifee, Powell, and Wolfe County Schools.


The position will be considered for hybrid work with local, state, and sometimes national travel required.

Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET with in-office, hybrid and/or remote work as a possibility. Because of the nature of the responsibility to schools, partners, funders, and to the service region, individual offices or departments may have operating hours that extend beyond this period and may include evening and/or weekend hours.


Minimum Qualifications

Education required to ensure success in this position:

  • Master’s degree in educational administration, or related field, with a doctorate preferred

Experience required to ensure success in this position:

  • Minimum ten years’ experience in personnel, program, and fiscal management
  • Demonstrated experience with federal grants management, including budget responsibility;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and leadership in school reform, college/career readiness, and evaluation
  • Familiarity with the Full Services Community School Model

Special skills, knowledge and abilities:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Superior interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Exceptional Excel skills including data processing, spreadsheet creation, and pivot tables

License, certification, or registration necessary:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Successfully complete pre-employment background check

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to work in a high-energy office
  • Ability to accurately communicate and exchange information with partners, stakeholders, and/or meeting participants
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment
  • Ability to operate motor vehicle

Environmental conditions:

  • Ability to travel independently by car and plane both locally and nationally
