Position Summary
The Project Coordinator (PC) is a key, full-time position. The PC for Rural Postsecondary and Economic Development (RPED), Dual Enrollment, Internship Coordination and Career Development Strategies (DEIC) works directly with the Project Director, school districts, and key postsecondary partners, to ensure students’ success in high school graduation, postsecondary participation and success; collaborate with schools and institutions of higher education in developing dual enrollment offerings within the target area; assist schools in creating an ecosystem of supports tied to high-wage careers; and ensuring students have access to work-based learning experiences including internships and fellowships. The position leads and operates with the goal that All Rural Students Succeed.

- Demonstrate a working knowledge of project goals and objectives
- Work closely with Project Director, school staff and partners to ensure college preparedness and workforce readiness via the connected supports
- Ensure timely collection and analysis of data and dissemination of results for continuous improvement
- Provide regular feedback to all program and service delivery staff
- Lead opportunities for partnership with schools and key partners to develop extended learning opportunities on college campuses
- Integrate Results Based Facilitation and Accountability frameworks in partnership meetings, improvement strategies and project design activities
- Ensure compliance with PRI and Federal grant policies and procedures paying particular attention to risk management
- Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist and support in the attainment of our mission, All Rural Students Succeed
Position Location & Schedule
The position will be considered for hybrid work with local, state, and sometimes national travel required. Home office will be located in Hazard, KY.
Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET with in-office, hybrid and/or remote work a possibility. Because of the nature of the responsibility to schools, partners, funders, and to the service region, individual offices or departments may have operating hours that extend beyond this period and may include evening and/or weekend hours.
Minimum Qualifications
Education required to ensure success in this position:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field is required, master’s degree preferred
Experience required to ensure success in this position:
- Experience in program management and training and supervising personnel, required
- Five years’ experience in one of the following specialties: middle grades education, secondary and postsecondary education, curriculum development, leadership development, career pathways
- Experience in college access and success best practices
- Experience in rural schools
- Understanding of first-generation, low-income youth
- Experience managing multiple tasks and meeting ambitious deadlines
- Experience leading work within one of the following best practices for college-going: dropout prevention, financial literacy/financial aid, parent engagement, postsecondary education, mentoring
- Knowledge of Results Based Accountability
Special skills, knowledge and abilities:
- Knowledge of Kentucky’s educational accountability standards
- Experience with data collection, analysis and planning next steps
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong verbal presentation skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
License, certification, or registration necessary:
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to successfully complete pre-employment background check
Physical requirements:
- Ability to work in a high energy office
- Ability to accurately communicate and exchange information with partners, stakeholders, and/or meeting participants
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs
- Ability to travel independently by car and plane regionally and nationally
- Ability to operate standard office equipment
- Ability to operate motor vehicle

- Work in a fast-paced setting with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities
