Position Summary

The Project Manager, Appalachian Cradle to Career Partnership is a key full-time position reporting to the Associate Vice President of Place-Based Partnerships: Sustaining & Thriving. The Project Manager (PM) will develop systems to effectively convene leadership tables and working groups among partners, support sustainability for the partnership and among individual member organizations through prospect research, grant seeking and writing, fundraising, funder reports, and communication in support of multiple stakeholders.  The Project Manager will oversee multiple facets of daily operations across the partnership and geographic portfolio.  The position leads and operates with the goal that All Rural Students Succeed.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Convene partners, stakeholders, and communities in strategy working groups, committees, and task force groups using the Collective Impact model
  • Engage with partners, stakeholders, and communities to continuously inform and educate on the cradle to career theory of action
  • Work with the data team to prepare professional presentations for the partnership for multiple stakeholders and potential and existing funders
  • Create/design and/or direct the creation of appealing visual representations of digital and printed materials, including incorporating data and graphics for informing and persuasive purposes
  • Manage shifting priorities and day-to-day operations across the partnership and geographic portfolio
  • Provide strategic support to the Associate Vice President of Place-Based Partnerships: Sustaining & Thriving/Executive Director Appalachian Cradle to Career Partnership that will include supporting and enhancing backbone for the partnership(s) in strategic communications, grant and funder reports and proposals, engaging and convening existing and potential partners.
  • Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist and support in the attainment of our mission, All Rural Students Succeed

Position Location & Schedule

The position will be considered for remote work within one of Kentucky's 54 Appalachian counties with local, state, and sometimes national travel required.

Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET with in-office, hybrid and/or remote work a possibility. Because of the nature of the responsibility to schools, partners, funders, and to the service region, individual offices or departments may have operating hours that extend beyond this period and may include evening and/or weekend hours.

Minimum Qualifications

Education required to ensure success in this position:

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field

Experience required to ensure success in this position:

  • Four years of experience in partnership development or convening stakeholders on complex issues
  • Four years of experience in oversight or creation of communication and/or fundraising materials
  • Experienced in preparing proposals and reports for private and public funding sources

  • Superior interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Results Based Accountability
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting with a focus on problem solving
  • Experience in implementing, monitoring, and evaluating federal or state grants
  • A commitment to students from diverse economic, social and cultural backgrounds
  • Demonstrated proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, Adobe applications, subscription-based design services, and the ability to operate and support multiple technology platforms used in virtual engagement
  • Demonstrated knowledge of fundraising and communications to support these endeavors.

License, certification, or registration necessary:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Successfully complete pre-employment background check

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to work in a high-energy office
  • Ability to accurately communicate and exchange information with partners, stakeholders, and/or meeting participants
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and computer software programs
  • Ability to operate motor vehicle
  • Ability to travel independently by car and plane to eastern Kentucky, statewide sites, and nationally

Environmental conditions:

  • Work in a fast-paced setting with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities
  • Periodic travel to meetings and events
