Description

Kentucky – One (1) BC/BE OB/GYN to join a well-established Ultra-Modern facility with the latest in modern equipment (4-D ultrasound, etc.), in Whitesburg, Kentucky (2.5 hrs. from Lexington, Kentucky - 1.5 hrs. from Kingsport, Tennessee, 2.5 hrs. from Knoxville, Tennessee). Area provides exceptional outdoor recreational opportunities. Call would be 1:4 at local hospital.

The position includes a very competitive salary (depending on qualifications and experience, plus incentive bonus), full benefits package, continuing education support and the benefits of professional liability protection under the Federal Tort Claims Act (medical, dental, matching 403(b), short and long term disability, etc.) FQHC – NHSC.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

General Duties:

  • Deliver specialty medical care to patients in own area of competence.
  • Must be knowledgeable in regards to diseases, epidemiology, and other medical conditions to interpret symptoms and diagnose conditions
  • Patience and physical endurance is required
  • Provide clinical supervision and medical orders to nursing staff and ancillary departments regarding patients undergoing treatment

Specific Duties:

  • Provide specialty medical care to patients presenting at the health center for treatment.
  • Give appropriate advice for healthy habits (diet, hygiene, etc.) and preventive actions to promote overall health
  • Conduct examinations to ill patients and evaluate symptoms to determine their condition
  • Ask intuitive questions to discover causes of illness
  • Reach an informed diagnosis based on scientific knowledge and the patient’s medical history
  • Prescribe and interpret lab tests to obtain more information for underlying infections or abnormalities
  • Prescribe medications or drugs and provide comprehensive instructions for administration
  • Collaborate with other physicians, physician assistants, and nurses to form a high performing medical team
  • May admit patients for in-patient care as needed and follow them during the course of hospitalization
  • May consult on in-patients for evaluation related to their specialty
  • Work with the nursing staff and establish procedures for assignment of patients to providers depending upon the nature of their medical conditions
  • Keep records of patients’ diseases, operations, or other significant information (e.g. allergic reactions)
  • Cultivate a climate of trust and compassion for patients
  • Remain up-to-speed with developments and best practices in medicine by attending conferences and seminars
  • Attends scheduled central office board and staff meetings as directed

Physical Requirements:

The primary portion of work is in a well-lit, ventilated, and air-conditioned facility. It may require prolonged, extensive sitting/standing. Position may require stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, and/or use of tactile information. The individual must be able to express ideas or exchange thoughts by means of talking, hearing, reading, and/or writing. The individual should have motor coordination, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, eye-hand-foot coordination. This position may include transporting objects, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical College of Medicine and Residency Program.
  • Credentialed to provide Specialty Care Services in areas of expertise.
  • Administrative or supervisory experience in a medical department is highly desired.
  • Must be familiar with the concepts and philosophy of ambulatory health centers.
