Position details
Job Summary
The Undergraduate Engagement Fellowship is an opportunity for students to work with a community partner to meet a regional need. This position will allow students to serve in the Morehead community through a project they co-develop with a community partner and faculty mentor. Applicants are expected to have a project outline before applying. Fellowships are accepted for a one semester time period with the option to extend.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Consistent communication with community partner, faculty mentor, and Coordinator of Service Learning
  • Ability to manage one’s time to complete anticipated project goals
  • Participation in the Celebration of Student Scholarship in the Spring semester through delivering a 10-minute presentation that raises awareness of regional engagement need, discusses reflective experiences, identifies potential outcomes, etc.
*Essential duties and responsibility may differ based on project, but the above items are standard.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Other duties as assigned by community partner, faculty mentor, or Coordinator of Service Learning.
Minimum Requirements
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled, full-time MSU students (12+ credit hours in a given semester). Students enrolled in a Level Up course will be given priority consideration.
  • Recipients must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above, per MSU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Positive customer service attitude

Physical Requirements
Working Conditions
This position will be working in an office most of the time. Sometimes incumbent will be outside during all types of weather or temperatures or in other buildings on campus setting up and working events. At times, position requires a significant amount of walking and light lifting (25 pounds or less). There will be interaction with faculty, staff, students, employers, community partners and parents.
