Advertisement Wording | The department of Communication, Media, Art & Design at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track position as an Assistant Professor, Art History. The anticipated start date is August 11, 2025. Morehead State University is located in Morehead, KY, a designated Kentucky Trail Town, nestled in the Daniel Boone National Forest, in close proximity to Cave Run Lake. This location provides opportunities for a wide range of outdoor recreation activities. RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach 24 credit hours per academic year in Art History, Art Appreciation, general education, and other undergraduate courses in the assigned discipline or related field. Engaging in university service, undertaking scholarly activity (research, artistic activity, and professional development), and supporting high-impact learning are expected. Responsible for activities related to teaching and learning including, but not limited to, 1) advising students, 2) holding regular office hours, 3) attending department, college, and university functions and meetings, 4) mentoring student organizations, 5) student recruitment and retention, 6) jurying student art work, and 7) actively participating in program reviews, curriculum development, program assessment, and other department, college, and university service. REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. in Art History from an accredited institution in the individual’s discipline as recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Exceptions will be those non-doctoral degrees considered to be terminal degrees by discipline-specific accrediting bodies recognized by the Commission on Recognition of Postsecondary Accreditation (CORPA). Consideration given to ABD with imminent completion. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated excellence in teaching in higher education, particularly with first-generation college students. Evidence of scholarly, artistic, or professional achievements beyond the minimum qualifications for this rank. Experience/research in digital arts/humanities and/or 18 hours or more of graduate credit in related field. SPONSORSHIP: This position is not budgeted for Visa Sponsorship.
