Advertisement Wording | The Dean, College of Science & Engineering at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a part-time Office Assistant. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2025. Morehead State University is located in Morehead, KY, a designated Kentucky Trail Town, nestled in Daniel Boone National Forest, in close proximity to Cave Run Lake. This location provides opportunities for a wide-range of outdoor recreation activities. Additionally, Morehead State University is relatively close to a number of larger cities including Lexington, KY, Louisville, KY, and Cincinnati, OH. RESPONSIBILITIES: Sorts and distributes mail, greets, screens and directs faculty, students, staff, administrators and the general public as needed. Assists with the coordination of graduate and undergraduate catalog revisions. Processes change of program requests and disseminates information to various departments as well as course substitutions and grade correction forms. Performs delegated responsibilities to assist Dean and Administrative Assistant to relieve him/her of routine details and exercise independent judgment or decision making in his/her absence as the situation warrants. Collects, compiles and prepares materials from the departments within the College as requested. Assists departmental academic specialists. REQUIREMENTS: Associate’s degree and four years of progressively responsible secretarial experience; or high school diploma or GED equivalent with 8 years of progressively responsible secretarial experience. Must have strong customer service skills, organizational skills, and experience with and knowledge of various computer software related to office needs. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree desirable. Experience in an academic setting or similar setting preferred. Demonstrated excellent office management skills, ability to work independently, and to execute tasks in a timely manner. Ability to relate to myriad of personalities and situations. Working Conditions | Routine office environment with continuous interruptions and noise due to frequency of visitors, students, faculty, staff, and callers. Pressure is expected on the job due to the frequency and number of visitors and callers and the meeting of multiple job deadlines. This position calls for initiative, good judgment, and a high degree of responsibility combined with the ability to handle information of a confidential nature. |
