Advertisement Wording | The department of History, Philosophy, Politics, Global Studies & Legal Studies at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as either a tenure track Assistant Professor, Geography OR an Instructor, Geography. The anticipated start date is August 11, 2025. Morehead State University is located in Morehead, KY, a designated Kentucky Trail Town, nestled in the Daniel Boone National Forest, in close proximity to Cave Run Lake. This location provides opportunities for a wide range of outdoor recreation activities. RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibility is instruction in the Geography core, Global Studies program, and/or related fields. Supporting high impact experiential learning is expected. For the assistant professor position, engaging in scholarly activities, such as research and professional development is expected. Additional duties include, but are not limited to, 1) serving as a nucleus faculty member for the Master of Public Administration, 2) teaching general education courses, 3) advising students, 4) holding regular office hours, 5) attending department, college, and university functions and meetings, 6) mentoring student organizations, 7) student recruitment and retention, and 8) actively participating in program reviews, curriculum development, program assessment, and other department, college, and university service. REQUIREMENTS: Graduate degree from an accredited institution as recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools: Ph.D. in Geography for assistant professor position; MA or MS in Geography for instructor position. Exceptional ABD candidates may also be considered. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 18 hours or more of graduate credit in Political Science or History. Significant teaching experience in higher education and evidence of scholarly or professional achievements beyond the minimum qualifications for this rank. Preference is given to those with the ability to teach courses on East Asia, Latin America or Africa, and/or the ability to teach courses in Security and Intelligence Studies.
