Position details
Job Summary
The student work study position in the Alumni Relations and Development Office requires honesty, confidentiality, integrity, dependability, excellent written and verbal communications skills. The student’s engagement with alumni through video, text, phone and email will be a vital part of this position. The student will assume a position of support for the entire staff of the Alumni Relations and Development Office. This position is essential to the day-to-day operations of the office.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create promotional videos and content that will be used to promote ALRD events pre and post event including Homecoming and other events.
  • Assist with promoting the MSU Legacy program by interviewing alumni scholarship recipients and prepare legacy stories highlighting Eagle families to feature on social media and electronic newsletters.
  • Engage with alumni in event areas through text, phone and email and encourage them to attend upcoming events.
  • Assist with sending personalized thank you notes to donors on as part of the Thankful Thursday initiative.
  • Assist with the preparation of post event communication including notes and press releases.

Minimum Requirements
  • Must be a current MSU student
  • Must maintain satisfactory academic progress
  • Must feel comfortable performing tasks that are not routine, but rather are more complex in nature
  • Must have the ability to understand and to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Must be able to work somewhat independently, utilizing initiative and a moderate level of judgment, analytical and/or decision-making skills
  • Must be able to operate a variety of office equipment such as copier, telephone, etc.
