Building Maintenance at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as a Maintenance Technician II.

Morehead State University is located in Morehead, KY, a designated Kentucky Trail Town, nestled in the Daniel Boone National Forest, in close proximity to Cave Run Lake. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Maintenance Technician II utilizes appropriate tools and equipment to install and maintain University facilities, which may include, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, locksmith, painting, preventive maintenance, and electrical systems. The Technician II monitors building equipment and machines, makes needed repairs, and performs general maintenance as scheduled or needed. Other job responsibilities may include repairing high-voltage electrical systems, structural repairs, appropriate record keeping, and supervision and training.
REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Six years of experience in one or more skilled trade disciplines of carpentry, electrical or plumbing, or four years of experience in one or more skilled trade disciplines of carpentry, electrical or plumbing, and completion of 1000 hours of advanced education or vocational training in one or more skilled trade disciplines of carpentry, electrical or plumbing, or two years of experience in one or more skilled trade disciplines of carpentry, electrical or plumbing , and completion of 2000 hours of advanced education or vocational training in one or more skilled trade disciplines of carpentry, electrical or plumbing. Must have the ability to communicate well with faculty and staff. Must be in good physical condition. A valid Kentucky driver’s license required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Additional maintenance training and/or experience. Experience on a university campus or similar setting.

Organizational Relationships
The Maintenance Technician II reports to an assigned supervisor Director of Facilities Maintenance Services. The Technician interacts with other Facilities Management and University employees.
Physical Requirements
Strenuous physical labor and heavy lifting are required.
Working Conditions
Position may be assigned day, evening, night or weekend work schedule. Overtime may be required during special events or emergencies. Both indoor and outdoor work in all types of weather conditions. Strenuous physical labor and heavy lifting are required. (May be required to wear pager).
