The Adult Education Academy at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as a Director, Adult Education Academy. The anticipated start date is November 1, 2024.

Morehead State University is located in Morehead, KY, a designated Kentucky Trail Town, nestled in the Daniel Boone National Forest, in close proximity to Cave Run Lake. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director will provide for the overall leadership and operation of the Adult Education Academy in conjunction with Kentucky Office of Adult Education (OAE)/Education & Workforce Development Cabinet. The Director will have responsibility for managing the budget; coordinating strategic planning; selecting and supervising staff; and ensuring the overall operation of the Academy. The Director will also serve as project leader for planning teams formed for activities of the Academy and OAE. The Director will serve as lead instructor/facilitator for and lead coordinator for monitoring of the professional learning developed by the Academy and approved by OAE. The Director will represent the Academy at meetings of OAE-funded events. The Director will support all instructional technology-based products and initiatives set forth by OAE. The Director will supervise subcontractors to support adult education initiatives. The Director will serve as lead administrator for OAE-approved adult education English Language Learner assessments, including but not limited to the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment Systems (CASAS®).
REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree and five years of teaching or administration experience are required. The candidate must demonstrate an understanding of adult education and clear evidence of strong verbal and written communication skills. Also, clear evidence of strong planning, leadership, and organizational capabilities is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to candidates whose teaching experience includes Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language.

Organizational Relationships
The Director reports to the Assistant Vice President, Regional Education & Outreach. The staff of the Academy—Adult Education Academy Coordinator and Adult Education Associate Director—reports to the Director, Adult Education Academy. The Director supervises a team of Kentucky ELL assessment trainers. The position interacts with the OAE Director of College and Career Prep, OAE staff, directors of other OAE-funded professional development organizations, and adult educators throughout the state. The Director interacts with Accounting and Fiscal Affairs, Research and Sponsored Programs, Human Resources, and adult education faculty at MSU.

Working Conditions
Travel within Kentucky and outside of Kentucky will be required and on some occasions, travel will extend over several days. Evening and weekend work assignments may occur.
