The Office of Human Resources at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as a Human Resources Assistant. The anticipated start date is September 2, 2024.
Morehead State University is located in Morehead, KY, a designated Kentucky Trail Town, nestled in the Daniel Boone National Forest, in close proximity to Cave Run Lake. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Human Resources Assistant oversees all office management functions and serves as the first point of contact for customers and administers day-to-day operations and procedures. The HR Assistant also responds to routine inquiries regarding Employment, Benefits, and Payroll, and redirects calls to the appropriate HR staff if necessary.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree with one year of experience in clerical and administrative duties; or associate’s degree with two years of experience in clerical and administrative duties; or HS diploma with three years of experience in clerical and administrative duties.
Must possess excellent time management skills, ability to maintain confidentiality, and perform duties in an atmosphere of team-like cooperation.
This position requires the ability to anticipate tasks that need to be done and to work independently with initiative to accomplish tasks while simultaneously completing the daily routine work. Decision-making, working with a high degree of accuracy and detail, and dealing with confidential matters are also responsibilities of this position.
Demonstrated excellent written and oral communications skills. Possess employee relations and diplomacy skills. Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to applicants with experience working on a college or university campus and/or with experience in human resources functions.

The Human Resources Assistant reports to the Director of Human Resources. The incumbent interacts with faculty, staff, department and unit supervisors, the general public, and students.
