Craft Academy Student Services at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as a Mental Health Counselor (Craft). The anticipated start date is August 16, 2024.

Morehead State University is located in Morehead, KY, a designated Kentucky Trail Town, nestled in the Daniel Boone National Forest, in close proximity to Cave Run Lake. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Mental Health Counselor provides individual, group, and family therapy, case management services, referral, and follow-ups to Craft Academy students. The counselor also consults with outside facilities and/or agencies and administers and coordinates specified mental health therapy programs.
REQUIREMENTS: A PhD, Psy.D, or master’s degree in psychology, counseling, or social work. Must be independently licensed in the state of Kentucky as a licensed psychologist, licensed clinical social worker, licensed professional clinical counselor, or licensed psychological practitioner or obtain said independent licensure within two years of hire date. Ability to maintain stable performance and emotional control when faced with opposition, pressure, or hostility from others and/or stressful conditions. Ability to communicate in a positive, compassionate, and professional manner with patients, staff, and visitors.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with adolescent mental health issues preferred.

Organizational Relationships
Reports to the Director of the Academy. Works collaboratively with the Assistant Director of Guidance Counseling Services and other Craft staff members to ensure student success. Interacts with students and parents. Expected to have contact and a good working relationship with the local mental health community including Pathways, Inc. and St. Claire Medical Center.

Working Conditions
Regular office hours with evening and weekend hours as needed to implement programs, respond to student needs, and duties associated with crisis on-call schedule.

This position may experience periods of high stress at various times due to client volume and job deadlines.
