Overview

The purpose of this position is to administer commercial operations efforts for the power generation fleet in order to obtain the best overall value on behalf of internal customers. This position is responsible for the solicitation, negotiation, and management of moderate to high value and complexity contracts for the acquisition of materials, equipment, and critical services. This a mid-level position that works independently with minimal supervision and may provide guidance and direction to other employees in support of high quality, timely and cost-effective resource acquisition activities.


Responsibilities

This position may be hired at the I, II, Senior, or Lead level. The position responsibilities listed below reflect those of the entry level. Additional/varying responsibilities maybe included for other levels of this role.

  • Executes sourcing strategies in support of power generation safety, operations, engineering, construction, and maintenance activities within the fleet. Through bidding, selecting, negotiating, and contracting with approved suppliers, responsibilities include measurement and feedback of safety performance, risk mitigation and management, costs, and quality control
  • Establish strong relationships with internal business stakeholders.
  • Partners with the company’s Legal Department to optimize appropriate levels of risk mitigation and conducts negotiations with sophisticated (national and international) counterparties.
  • Drafts, negotiates, and edits a variety of service, material, and equipment contracts; master agreements; non-disclosure agreements (NDAs); and information technology protection agreements.
  • Exhibit ownership of the entire procurement process for assigned initiatives from cradle to grave.
  • Provides input on a strategic procurement plan that aligns with the company business plan and plant outage plan.
  • Locates and provides opportunities to diverse suppliers, and works to develop and certify alternate sources of supply in areas where competition is not prevalent.
  • Oversees ongoing performance monitoring of suppliers/contractors.
  • Advises and assists internal customers and peers on ERP system processing issues and ensures compliance with and maintains accurate and auditable records in accordance with company policies and best practices.
  • Drives continuous improvement and productivity with suppliers and internal customers.
  • All other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

This position may be hired at the I, II, Senior, or Lead level. Level offered will be determined by the successful candidate's background, education & experience.

Basic Qualifications

Level I

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Basic knowledge of business law, commercial terms and conditions, and related legal issues.
  • A high attention to detail, along with strong verbal and written communication are required.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Level II

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three or more years of sourcing experience required.
  • Working knowledge of business law, commercial terms and conditions, and related legal issues.
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated problem assessment and problem-solving skills.
  • A high attention to detail, along with strong verbal and written communication are required.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Senior level

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Five or more years of sourcing experience required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business law, commercial terms and conditions, and related legal issues.
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated problem assessment and problem-solving skills.
  • A high attention to detail, along with strong verbal and written communication are required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Lead level:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Eight or more years of sourcing experience required.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of business law, commercial terms and conditions, and related legal issues.
  • Advanced negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated problem assessment and problem solving skills.
  • A high attention to detail, along with strong verbal and written communication are required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Preferred qualifications

Level I:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, legal, or engineering. One or more years of sourcing experience with utility-related products or services preferred. Experience in electric generation and/or supply chain. Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (C.P.S.M.). Experience with electronic procurement platforms. Ability to adapt and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Level II:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, legal, or engineering.
  • Three or more years of sourcing experience with utility-related products or services preferred.
  • Experience in electric generation and/or supply chain.
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (C.P.S.M.).
  • Experience with electronic procurement platforms.
  • Ability to adapt and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Senior Level:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, legal, or engineering.
