Overview
Perform basic to routine skill level work under supervision/oversight, as required to clean, check, inspect, repair, maintain, and install various station instrumentation and controls equipment and systems.
Responsibilities
General Duties
Include but not limited to:
• Employee will be knowledgeable of and follow all safety rules, procedures and practices
• Actively participate and successfully complete assigned training activities and requirements.
• In normal performance of duties, employee will watch for and promptly report to supervision any damaged or defective equipment or conditions which may cause damage or injury.
• Employee will perform duties of lower or higher classifications that are incidental to the job and are within their capabilities, including those needed for purpose of training in the requirements of the higher classification.
• Employee will keep all equipment, tools, materials, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
• Employee will perform work in a responsible and cooperative manner to facilitate a positive working environment.
• Employee will compile information and generate reports, forms and documents as required.
• Employee will represent the Company to the community with attention to the highest standards of conduct, appearance and attitude.
Specific Duties
Include but not limited to the following, in addition to those of lower classification(s):
• Perform basic or routine maintenance activities as required to maintain, repair, inspect, install, rebuild, construct, and trouble-shoot various power plant electrical, instrumentation and/or controls equipment. Equipment may include motors, generators, transformers, solenoids, exciters, precipitators, circuit breakers, conduit, cables, cable trays, controls, transmitters, meters, relays, analog and digital instrumentation, as well as other electric, electronic, and pneumatic equipment and controls.
• Diagnose and identify cause(s) of equipment/system problems and apply corrective actions as required.
• Safe and proficient use of test and diagnostic equipment such as voltage meters, oscilloscopes, megger equipment, etc.
• Clean equipment undergoing repairs, handle and move material supplies and equipment in connection with the work and work area. Maintain area in clean and safe condition.
• Operate as directed, and in a safe and proficient manner: hand tools, power tools, meters, test equipment, hoists, drill presses, grinders, and other tools and equipment pertaining to the work.
• Safely and proficiently operate equipment such as cranes, and industrial trucks/vehicles as required.
• Assist as directed, employees of any classification in carrying through work assignments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
General Qualifications
Include but not limited to:
• Must meet all general qualifications of employment.
• Must have a valid state driver’s license, and successfully complete training and/or operator certification for operating Company vehicles as may be applicable.
• Must have education or knowledge equivalent to that normally represented by satisfactory completion of the requirements of a high school diploma.
• Minimum 2 year Associate’s degree in Industrial Electricity, Electronics, Engineering Technology, or related technical field. May be offset by combination of education and experience that results in equivalent skills and knowledge.
• Must be able and willing to comply with all safety rules.
• Must be able to safely perform physical requirements of the job, including work at heights, manual lifting, and the ability to wear required PPE.
• Must possess the willingness and ability to acquire necessary knowledge and skills to advance to higher classifications.
• Must have successfully completed all required testing and training programs as promulgated by the company.
• 1-3 years job related experience recommended.
• Must have demonstrated proficiency in the ability to perform duties associated with the lower classification(s) within the line of progression.
