Overview
This is an intern level position. Intern will gain practical, hands-on experience in the utility industry under close supervision. Learn to perform maintenance and installation work in high voltage electrical substations position offers you the opportunity to gain hands-on experience at a LG&E and KU Energy facility. This position will provide challenging projects, networking advantages, and a chance to learn from experienced energy industry professionals in the energy transmission fields.
Responsibilities
- Comply with all safety rules, regulations, and procedures applicable to assigned duties.
- Develop the skills needed to progress to higher classifications through a combination of home study, classroom, and On the Job Training (OJT).
- Identify any damaged or defective equipment or hazardous conditions and promptly report to supervision.
- Keep all equipment, tools, materials and work areas in a clean, orderly, and good working condition.
- Learn the safe and correct operation of tools and equipment used by Substation P&C and use them properly under the direction and guidance of others.
- Become familiar with electrical prints, switching diagrams, technical manuals, maintenance and test procedures associated with employees assigned duties.
- Employee will actively participate in the Safety Training program to learn and follow the specific governmental, corporate and departmental rules, regulations, and procedures applicable to SC&M functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in a technical field. Applicable degree fields include Engineering and Electronics Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Advanced Automation & Robotics Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 2.50 GPA.
