TITLE: Offensive Line Coach/Run Game Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Athletics - Football

REPORTS TO: Head Football Coach

CLASSIFICATION: Staff-12 months

EFFECTIVE DATE: TBD

STANDARD WORK HOURS: 37.5 hours per week

LOCATION: On-Site-Main Campus

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time

JOB SUMMARY:

The Offensive Line Coach/Strength & Conditioning is responsible for providing expert coaching and instruction to offensive linemen, developing their technical skills and tactical understanding. This role also encompasses the design and implementation of comprehensive strength and conditioning programs to enhance the overall athleticism, strength, and physical readiness of the football team.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide expert coaching and instruction to offensive line student-athletes, focusing on technique, fundamentals, and scheme execution.
  • Develop and implement effective offensive line practice plans and strategies that align with the overall offensive philosophy.
  • Evaluate offensive line performance and provide constructive feedback for individual and unit improvement.
  • Design and execute comprehensive strength and conditioning programs tailored to the specific needs of football student-athletes, with an emphasis on offensive line development.
  • Collaborate with the Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, and other coaching staff to integrate offensive line strategies and strength and conditioning goals with the overall team objectives.
  • Assist in the recruitment of qualified student-athletes who fit the program's academic and athletic standards.
  • Adhere to all NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Knowledge:

  • Thorough knowledge of offensive line techniques, schemes, and strategies.
  • In-depth understanding of football rules and regulations.
  • Extensive knowledge of strength and conditioning principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of exercise physiology, biomechanics, and nutrition as they relate to athletic performance.
  • Knowledge of injury prevention and rehabilitation techniques.
  • Understanding of NCAA or relevant athletic conference rules and regulations.

Skills:

  • Excellent coaching and teaching skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to student-athletes.
  • Skill in developing and implementing effective practice plans and game strategies for the offensive line.
  • Proficient in designing and executing individualized and team-based strength and conditioning programs.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills to inspire and develop student-athletes.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to assess player performance and make necessary adjustments.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with student-athletes, coaching staff, and administration.
  • Organizational and time management skills to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in using relevant technology and software for strength and conditioning (e.g., performance tracking systems).

  • Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes to achieve their full potential.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with other coaches and staff.

  • Ability to adapt coaching and training methods to meet the individual needs of student-athletes.
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to the academic success and personal development of student- athletes.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibility.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree from a accredited university. (Emphasis in Sports Management, Athletic Coaching, Exercise Science, Strength and Conditioning or other related degree preferred);
  • Five years college and/or professional football coaching experience with strong college recruiting experience.
  • Certified strength and conditional background
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to work in noise, heat, cold, odors, dirt, outdoor temperatures, snow, and difficult situations.
  • Ability to repetitively grasp and manipulate objects of varying size and weight requiring fine motor skills and hand- eye coordination.
  • Ability to exert oneself physically over sustained periods of time to complete job activities.
  • Ability to stand a minimum of 6 hours during the workday.
  • Ability to work some weekends, occasional holidays, and inclement weather.
  • Ability to repetitively lift, carry, and position objects weighting up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to repetitively push and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance while kneeling; squatting; reaching above the head; reaching at the waist; reaching below the knees; and bending at the knees.
  • Ability to repetitively push and pull equipment (for example, football sleds, dummies and pads) a minimum of 10 yards without assistance.
  • Ability to climb a ladder or scaffolding to enter/exit a press box, get to a filming location or similar situations.
