TITLE: Project Manager: DARE-KY

DEPARTMENT: College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources

REPORTS TO: Principal Investigator

CLASSIFICATION: Staff-12 months

EFFECTIVE DATE: TBD

STANDARD WORK HOURS: 37.5 hours per week

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time

EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the DARE-KY Principal Investigator, the Project Manager: DARE-KY will be part of a National Science Foundation grant focused on investigating aspects of soilless agriculture (Aquaponics and Hydroponics) nutrient dynamics, water quality, nutrient reuse, and community assembly and metagenomics of endemic microbes. In this role the hire will primarily be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the DARE-KY grant with both internal and external project partners.Bottom of Form

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Refine project scope, goals, deliverables, compliance, and timelines in collaboration with project partners.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive project plans to meet grant objectives.
  • Ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all grant requirements, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Ensure all project activities comply with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Maintain detailed records of project activities, expenses, and progress.
  • Prepare and submit timely reports to funding agencies as required.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project partners and outside agencies or stakeholders.
  • Facilitate regular meetings and communications to keep project partners informed.
  • Address and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with partners and external reviewers to assess project progress and performance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Strong understanding of grant management processes and requirements.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Overseeing interns and students with oversight from the PI.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Perform other related duties as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • M.S. in Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification is highly desirable.
  • Experience with grant-funded projects is a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Office-based with occasional travel to project sites as required.
  • Occasional work and/or site visits in hot environments like greenhouses or wet labs.
