JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision of the Farm Manager the Facility and Event Coordinator will oversee, and/or perform a wide variety of support activities and serve as the primary point of contact for the Center for Sustainability of Farms and Families event planning, preparing the Center for events to provide a clean and safe environment for visitors, and follows USDA NIFA allowable use for the facilities. The Center for Sustainability of Farms and Families is a multi-faceted building that includes conference meeting space that hosts in-person, virtual and hybrid events and a kitchen that is used for commercial processes and/or catering. This position will maintain a restaurant grade and USDA certified kitchen in the Center for use at events and for use by stakeholders.
The individual will work with the Farm Manager to schedule and setup events/meetings at the Center for Sustainability of Farms and Families.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Will serve as the primary point of contact for event planning and scheduling of the Center, prepare the Center for events and provide a clean and safe environment for visitors.
- Follows USDA NIFA allowable use for the facilities
- Manages all event logistics and execution for in-person, hybrid, and virtual events.
- Maintains a restaurant grade and USDA certified kitchen in the Center for use at events
- Manages event calendar and assists with assembling volunteers from the Land Grant Program to participate in promotional efforts.
- Performs audio/visual and information technology support for in-person, virtual and hybrid events
- Oversees the maintenance of the Center
- Maintains records of facility usage.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Ability to Manage all event logistics and execution for in-person, hybrid, and virtual events.
- Must be able to communicate and be a liaison between departments; ensuring all have clear and updated information for upcoming events.
- Ability to become certified as a manager in food handling
- Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Experience in event planning and/or setup
- Ability to set realistic expectations with colleagues and to seek creative approaches/solutions for their needs.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to take initiative and be resourceful and punctual
- Strong technical skills, especially the ability to troubleshoot technical issues on your own.
- Thorough understanding of virtual event technology and digital event production from start to finish.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
- This position does not have supervisory responsibility.
OTHER DUTIES:
- The position will conduct other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- An Associate’s or higher degree in Agriculture, Ag Communications, Communications, Marketing, Hospitality & Event Management or related field preferred.
- Strong experience without a degree will be considered if this experience is directly related to supporting online events (meetings, webcasts, webinars, online conferences, etc.).
- Candidate should have the ability to work nights, weekends and/or holidays as necessary dependent on scheduled events

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is normally performed in either a typical interior/office work environment or in a farm-related setting
- Ability to lift 20lbs
