Humana is seeking a strategic and results-driven Associate Vice President, IT Transformation and Enablement, to lead one of the company’s highest-profile programs. The goal is to generate significant run-rate value through AI and GenAI initiatives. This role is essential in shaping and driving Humana's AI strategy, ensuring responsible AI practices, and guiding critical technology decisions. This will report directly to the VP of IT Strategy and Transformation and will lead the AI Enablement Office, serving as the enterprise coordination function for all AI and GenAI efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

AI Strategy & Program Management:

  • Lead the activation and execution of Humana's AI and GenAI strategy with the goal of generating significant run-rate value(cost savings and revenue generation opportunities) in the coming years.

  • Lead the AI Enablement Office, ensuring that all efforts align with business objectives and enterprise goals.

  • Active contributor to developing and executing Humana’s AI strategy, defining necessary technology investments, and driving transparency in prioritization and planning

  • Track all Humana AI-related efforts (integrated solutions, horizontal platform development), from conception to deployment, ensuring they meet business needs, deliver anticipated value, and adhere to enterprise program delivery standards.

Operationalizing AI:

  • Serve as active member on Humana’s Responsible AI committee which champions the development and implementation of responsible AI practices across the organization.

  • Establish and track key metrics for monitoring performance of AI models

  • Partner with Enterprise AI team on building LLM operations capabilities

Technology Decisions:

  • Responsible for coordination across business, technology and other key stakeholders to drive key decision making across efforts.

  • Facilitate AI Review Board to drive strategic technology decisioning on buy vs build for solutions/platforms that align with Humana’s long-term goals.

Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting:

  • Act as the primary Enterprise AI Program liaison between business units, IT, and senior executives.

  • Present AI strategies, project updates, and outcomes to executive leadership and other key stakeholders.

  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, easy-to-understand readouts for non-technical audiences.

Resource & Workforce Planning

  • Act as the enterprise conduit in understanding how the Enterprise is planning for increased AI Talent needs.

  • Partner directly with HR Workforce Planning initiative to design an approach to support the strategy for AI workforce.


Use your skills to make an impact

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or social sciences. Equivalent and Applicable Experience in AI will be considered.

  • Experience:

    • 10+ years of experience in large-scale program management, particularly in AI or technology-driven projects.

    • Proven track record of leading large-scale technology-driven initiatives within a corporate environment.

    • Significant experience managing large, complex programs within a highly matrixed organization.

    • Strong background in making strategic technology decisions, including buy vs. build analyses.

    • Experience working closely with senior executives and managing cross-functional teams.

    • Experience at a top management consulting firm is highly desirable.

  • Skills:

    • Strong executive presence and the ability to influence at the highest levels of the organization.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technology concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

    • Deep understanding of technologies, trends, and best practices.

    • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to influence and inspire.

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in the healthcare or insurance industry.

  • Familiarity with cloud-based AI solutions and platforms.

  • A Master’s (e.g, MBA) or PhD in a relevant discipline is preferred.

  • Experience with agile practices and tooling

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


$199,400 - $274,400 per year


This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
