The Director, Strategy Advancement provides data-based strategic direction to identify and address business issues and opportunities. Provides business intelligence and strategic planning support for business segments or the company at large. The Director, Strategy Advancement requires an in-depth understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across the function or segment.

As part of the Digital Leadership Team, the Director of Strategy Advancement will play a key role in maturing Humana's core payer, benefits, provider, and pharmacy experiences in support of advancing the company’s health first priorities. A successful leader will be centered on the needs of Humana's members by providing active support to product leaders and product managers in discovery and execution of their roadmaps. While advancing the outcomes of the team forward the program manager leader will also contribute as Product Chief of Staff for VP of Product and Platforms.

This role will include managing strategic programs, product OKRs, monitoring of progress and business results and outcomes. This role will cut across over 100+ product owners and managers providing them assistance with roadmaps, tools, and facilitation of planning and delivery coordination for cross-functional efforts.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Structuring and facilitating mechanisms for product planning, discovery efforts as well as managing communication of progress and results

  • Creating strategic connection with multiple enterprise departments, managing effective communication and planning exercises

  • Facilitating workshops, events, and help in creating a product management excellence guide

  • Assisting with the training and recruitment of product managers while bringing visibility to industry best practices

As part of digital strategy advancement, this role will advance common digital product adoption framework across teams and problem domains for increasing use of digital capabilities by members and users of product experiences. The associate will be able to navigate both strategic and tactical business, design, and engineering challenges seamlessly and will serve as a key partner across the Digital Product Organization with a diverse set of internal stakeholders including IT, design, analytics, and business.

This role will be a strong advocate for the end user specifically Humana members by developing a deep understanding of their needs through feedback and research. The associate will assist in establishing KPIs and OKRs for the product teams and will ensure accountability and alignment with senior leadership. This role will work with product leaders and IT partners to standardize the development and implementation process for all aspects of interdepartmental delivery and will plan/direct schedules and drive progress towards the larger goal and vision.

Duties include overseeing the Program Management Team and their efforts, coordinating project needs and outcomes with leaders, as well as designing and organizing written communication for product efforts within the department and with stakeholders. This associate will become a trusted partner with product leaders to help improve performance of Product at all levels within the company.

Required Qualifications

  • MBA, or MS in computer science/data engineering or BS in Tech and at least 7 years of experience

  • At least 7 years of overall professional experience in a role with product management, strategic planning, or large program management

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills and proven track record of decision-making

  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders

  • Understanding of the digital platform ecosystems, health care digital landscape and passion and awareness of new innovations and changing customer habits

  • Experience with influencing and leading leaders and proven track record of enabling high performing teams

  • Demonstrated success of driving results through OKR management

  • Strong understanding of business strategy and demonstrating delivery of strategy

  • Strong understanding of Agile practices and product development practices

  • Enthusiasm, positive bend, and self-motivation is essential, a confident change agent

  • Strong communication and presentation skills (oral and written)

  • Demonstrated leadership skills, especially in the areas of communication and change management required

  • Proven ability to drive the decision-making process, including the ability to challenge teams and achieve excellence

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment required

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or relevant Master’s Degree in Technology

  • Work experience in a health care and/or insurance industry is desirable but not required

  • Technology expert with experience leading technology teams and managing vendor relationships

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


$164,700 - $226,600 per year


This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
