The Member Benefits and Medical Records Category Lead will report directly to the Associate Director in Enterprise Procurement & Supplier Management (EPSM) supporting, developing, and implementing process and sourcing initiatives. The Category Lead will generate and implement efficient sourcing and category management strategies across the Enterprise for:

• Member Benefits and Services for non-medical plan services for Humana members which includes but not limited to meal services, non-emergency medical transportation services, fitness/wellness services, and Healthy/Flex/OTC card funding programs.
• Medical Record Services supporting the obtainment (medical record copy fees), storage, and management of Humana members medical records.
• Claims review services supporting Grievances and Appeals (G&A) or Independent Review Organization (IRO) services.

The individual selected for this role will be expected to build relationships with suppliers, senior business stakeholders, and will work cross-functionally to proactively identify value creation opportunities, innovative solutions, and continuous improvement, and enabling business strategies.
  • For aligned services, drives co-development of micro-category strategies with business stakeholders resulting in enablement of efficient sourcing and category management.
  • Proactively identifies sourcing opportunities and builds internal alignment needed to implement solutions.
  • Leads sourcing events and vendor contract negotiations.
  • Gathers and interprets relevant data to assess vendor spend, productivity, demand patterns, etc.
  • Delivers results when faced with ambiguity & roadblocks.
  • Ability to use data and people skills to influence stakeholders to act.

Required Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in related field, preferably in a business or technical discipline.
  • Ability to motivate and influence team members and stakeholders to meet deadline deliverables.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective collaborator with cross-functional teams and all levels of business partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ability to transfer lessons learned into new processes.
  • Flexible and willing to learn new service areas and skill sets quickly.
  • Strong financial and business acumen.
  • Ability to assimilate, analyze, and make recommendations from multi-faceted and often ambiguous data.
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work with minimal oversight.
  • Meticulous and critical thinker.
  • Experience in developing project plans and presenting business cases to Senior Leaders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of relevant sourcing experience.
  • Experience with healthcare related services especially member benefit and services, medical record services, and G&A/IRO claims review services.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


$102,200 - $140,700 per year


This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
