The Senior Learning Design Professional partners with IT Leaders and Associates to support the strategic goals and objectives for our IT learning strategy. They analyze the skilling needs of the organization and use performance consulting strategies, adult learning theory, and instructional design best practices to design appropriate solutions to solve the knowledge or performance gap. The Senior Learning Design Professional develops learning content, evaluates solutions, leads design project teams, and partners with subject matter experts and business stakeholders to continuously improve results.

The Senior Learning Design Professional begins to influence departmental strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

The Senior Learning Design Professional uses consultative skills to conduct needs analysis, identify the gap, and determine whether learning solutions are necessary or relevant.

Designs and develops learning solutions, for technical topics supporting information technology associates, that solve the learning gap, create clarity from ambiguity, are engaging, and align with adult learning best practices. Develops content by writing storyboards, scripts, instructor and participant guides, and eLearning. Writes effective measurable learning objectives, assessments, and measurement plans and evaluates the learning program effectiveness, and adjusts to improve learner experience and performance.

Creates strong partnerships with the business and collaborates with subject matter experts to gather and review information and content. Create a network of partners to ensure learning content stays current, relevant and communication channels stay open. Stays on the pulse of the current priorities and creates new programs to support the evolving skilling needs of the organization.

Provides instruction and guidance to Facilitators and may facilitate some learning programs. Knows how to use social media and collaborative tools to facilitate learning.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 or more years in a learning design role
  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences.
  • Prior experience leading learning project teams, creating learning designs and developing interactive, engaging eLearning and virtual instructor-led content.
  • Quickly learns new technologies, comfortable working in a highly technical environment.
  • Experience using eLearning design tools like Articulate 360 and working with Learning Management Systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Learning Design, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience working in technology or designing learning in the technology space
  • Experience designing learning measurement plans
  • Experience leading large learning programs
  • Experience facilitating learning programs
  • Experience working in health care and/or insurance setting
  • Experience designing and leading skilling, coaching or mentoring programs

Additional Information

To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria:

At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested
Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership
Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


$69,800 - $96,200 per year


This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
