The Accountant position performs general accounting activities, including the preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial statements. Conducts or assists in the documentation of accounting projects. Accountant work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.

The Accountant prepares, records, analyzes and reports accounting transactions and ensures the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles. Provides financial support, including forecasting, budgeting, and analyzing variations from budget. Analyzes and prepares statutory accounts, financial statements and reports. Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives. Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed. Follows established guidelines/procedures. The Accountant will assist with funding for pharmacy claims, reconciliation of individual payment and financial recovery of member balances, and support ad-hoc projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2 - 5 years of experience with SQL, Access, or similar
  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration or Master's Degree in Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant license
  • Prior experience in public or corporate accounting
  • Strong technical accounting skills

Additional Information

The Accountant position has a hybrid work office/home schedule. In-office a few days a week located at Humana's Corporate offices in Louisville, KY. Candidates should reside within a 50-mile radius commutable distance from Louisville, KY.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


$57,700 - $79,500 per year


This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
