The Counsel is an attorney who represents Humana entities and employees in affirmative litigation and arbitration proceedings. The Counsel will manage litigation and arbitration matters, and collaborate with internal clients and outside counsel on discovery requests and case strategy. The Counsel will exercise independent judgment and decision-making on litigation issues and related tasks, and work under modest to minimal supervision. Applies in-depth and broad knowledge and frequently takes full ownership of legal matters. Organizes and manages individual litigation matters.
Use your skills to make an impact
Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school;
Active and licensed membership in a state bar association;
At least 4 years of experience in litigation; preferably in the healthcare or product liability/mass tort practice group of a law firm or in-house corporation
Strong project management skills involving discovery and litigation matters
Ability to organize and successfully execute a number of case matters simultaneously.
Strong skills in communicating complex legal issues to various stakeholders; and
Ability to work independently under general supervision and in team settings
Experience with large scale e-discovery
Healthcare litigation experience
Affirmative and antitrust litigation experience
Understanding of Medicare laws and regulations

Pay RangeThe compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay decisions will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$136,200 - $187,400 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
