In this role, you will use your existing knowledge of DevOps practices, servers, networking, source code management and application security to mature DevOps and support practices at Humana Military.
As a member of the Platform and Foundation Services team, the candidate will play a key role in supporting various IT functional areas such as DevOps and infrastructure application services support. The candidate will also assist in enabling automation by breaking down functional silos between development and production while promoting flexible collaboration, communication and support between development, DBAs, architects, SMEs, infrastructure, security, compliance, testing, monitoring and production teams.
Our Department of Defense Contract requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a Security Clearance.

The ideal candidate for this role will be self-motivated and excited to be part of a growing technology ecosystem. In this role, the candidate will take their existing knowledge of DevOps processes, servers, networking, source code management and security and use it to mature development and support practices at Humana Military.

This role will be proficient in their understanding of the technical aspects of DevOps practices and application infrastructure support, but also be able to work with different engineering teams who need to level up their development processes to get the maximum benefit from adherence to DevOps principals. Additionally, the candidate will need to be systems thinker and assist senior team members in maturing Humana Military’s delivery platform into new technologies, as well as working to integrate new engineering platforms to form a cohesive delivery experience across all tech stacks at Humana Military. Finally, in this role the candidate will need to be skilled at working across organizational boundaries to be the connective tissue of the engineer experience by collaborating with your peers (and leaders), software engineers, DBA’s, security team, architects and other partners.

Key Accountabilities

  • Build and leverage DevOps pipelines to deploy new technologies to a production environment

  • Support in reviewing DevOps certified pipelines for different value stream functional teams

  • Provide infrastructure support for Windows Servers, Web Servers, COTS applications such as monitoring, security and certified pipeline tools and runs.

  • Assist in automation, documentation and change management tasks

  • Develop leading DevOps practices, developer tools, and development frameworks including the ability to set enterprise standards around their use

  • Future cloud technologies, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and emerging DevOps trends like 'GitOps' combined with 'pull' based deployment technologies like Argo and Terraform Enterprise (TFE).

  • Support necessary changes inside the Azure DevOps application to allow WorkAdmins/TechAdmins, IT Delivery Teams, and business stakeholders to perform their functions around agile software development lifecycle processes including certification of new Tech Admin

  • Assist in efficiency improvements needed to help core HGB IT infrastructure and application services area

  • Provide additional technical support for HGB’s share services

Required Qualifications

  • Our Department of Defense Contract requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a Security Clearance

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical training

  • 3-5 years of related experience with systems administration and DevOps practices

  • Demonstrates job accountabilities and expectations of the Senior, Product Management

  • Passionate about understanding customer problems

  • Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-changing environment; be nimble and adaptable, handle ambiguity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Terraform or other IAC tools such as Bicep, Cloud Formation, etc.

  • Some experience in existing public Cloud computing technologies - IAAS, PAAS and SAAS technologies.

  • Understanding of Visio or similar diagramming tools.

  • Experience or understanding of certificate management.

  • Understanding of Disaster Recovery principles.

  • Product Development or Management Experience

  • Established ability to successfully lead a cross-functional team and work well with other leaders/teams

  • Healthcare related experience

To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates must meet the following criteria:

  • At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested

  • Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership

  • Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.

  • Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.

  • Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay decisions will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


$78,800 - $108,500 per year


This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
