OVERVIEW:

The Program Administrator and Stakeholder Engagement Manager will play a key role in managing the organization’s grant activities while fostering a network of peer organizations and thought leaders in specific areas of focus such as services for justice-impacted individuals, youth and young adults, older workers, veterans and military families, persons with disabilities and occupation-specific training such as digital skills and tech-enabled occupations, and other emerging, in-demand career pathways. This position will go beyond traditional grant administration by creating meaningful relationships with funders, peer organizations, and stakeholders to expand the organization's impact and advocate for communities served by Goodwill organizations. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, strategic thinker, and skilled in grants management, relationship-building, and community engagement.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Co-lead the development of grant applications, collaborate on programmatic design, and manage grant process including pre-award through post-award activities.

Ensure grant compliance, manage fiscal and programmatic outcomes.

Manage funder and stakeholder relationships.

Develop and expand peer network.

This position is funded by grants, and continuance is dependent upon on-going funding.

SPECIFIC DUTIES :

1. Grant Research, Writing, and Submission (10%):

- Research, identify funding opportunities aligned with the organization’s mission to support communities served by Goodwill organizations.

- Collaborate on writing, preparing, and submitting high-quality grant proposals, ensuring alignment with funder requirements and organizational goals.

- Collaborate with program teams to gather relevant data and outcomes for grant proposals.

2. Grant Compliance and Reporting (45%):

- Manage all aspects of grant compliance, including tracking deadlines, budgets, and deliverables.

- Oversee the submission of interim and final reports to funders, providing updates on program outcomes, budget expenditures, and overall performance.

- Ensure adherence to grant terms and conditions and manage audits and financial reviews.

3. Stakeholder and Funder Relations (20%):

- Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective funders through regular communication, updates, and presentations.

- Represent the organization at funder meetings, webinars, and events to showcase impact and cultivate long-term funding partnerships.

- Ensure funders are kept informed of the organization's progress and challenges through regular, tailored communications.

4. Peer Network Development (10%):

- Develop and lead a network of peer organizations and thought leaders focused on providing services comparable or collaboratively to communities serviced by Goodwill organizations.

- Organize and facilitate regular meetings, webinars, and workshops to share best practices, collaborate on grant opportunities, and co-create strategies for community impact.

- Foster a community of practice to strengthen relationships and knowledge-sharing between organizations.

5. Program Impact Measurement and Strategy (20%):

- Collaborate with program staff and external partners to track program outcomes and ensure that data is collected and reported accurately for grants and stakeholders.

- Use insights gained from peer networks and program evaluation to inform strategic planning, funding opportunities, and new program development.

- Collaborate to share learnings via white papers, external research and evaluation, Goodwill Learn and Lead Labs (L&LLs), Mission Optimization Learning Events (MOLÉ), Goodwill Connect, and external speaking engagement opportunities.

- Ensure that grant-funded programs align with the organization’s overall mission and strategy.

RELATIONSHIPS

Internal: Daily contact with GII team members to coordinate and manage grant administration activities.

GII Members: Frequent contact with local Goodwill leaders.

Outside: Frequent contact with external organizations, funders, partners and other stakeholders as designated.

SKILLS NEEDED

A. Proven experience in building and maintaining networks or communities of practice, particularly in the fields of social justice, community impact, older worker services, services for persons with disabilities, women, youth and young adults, English language learners or other marginalized communities.

B. Excellent writing and communication skills with experience in preparing compelling grant proposals and donor reports.

C. Strong understanding of grant compliance, financial management, and reporting requirements.

D. Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work in a cross-functional team environment.

E. Proficiency in grants management software, data collection tools, and project management platforms (e.g., Smartsheets, Salesforce, Asana, CaseWorthy, etc.).

F. A desire to learn new techniques and technologies.

G. Flexibility to work as a member of the team and as an individual contributor.

H. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with ability to establish trust, build relationships, and demonstrate integrity and credibility with GII colleagues, local Goodwill members, partners and other stakeholders.

I. Demonstrated ability to achieve goals with a wide array of team members from different departments and levels (e.g., within GII, local Goodwill organizations, partners, collaborators and others).

J. Strong organization abilities with project and process management and improvement skills with attention to detail to produce high quality work on multiple projects.

K. Excellent oral and written communication skills including ability to communicate effectively in person and virtually (e.g., on the telephone and e-mail).

L. Effective group facilitation and training/teaching skills.

M. Ability to work in a team environment and to relate well to others both on an individual basis and in a group.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in public administration, nonprofit management, social sciences, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

EXPERIENCE: Minimum three years of experience in grant writing, grants management, or fundraising in the nonprofit sector.

DECISION MAKING: Ability to work independently and make decisions aligned with portfolio goals, objectives, and policies. Ability to make decisions about funding priorities and potential opportunities.

SUPERVISION: Regular – Latitude is given to the position in carrying out work assignments. Work is checked regularly for accuracy and completeness. Works under general supervision.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Sedentary, lifting 10 pounds maximum. Walking or standing is required only occasionally; accommodation available. Requires long hours at a computer. Requires travel for team meetings, in-person conferences and events, and some partner engagement.

EMOTIONAL EFFORT: Work environment is fast paced with periods of high stress when grant application and deadlines are due. Will need a positive attitude and comfort with working under tight deadlines to meet daily challenges.
