Job Description:

GDIT is looking for an Infrastructure Hosting Manager to lead our large IT infrastructure program in support of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) based in Research Triangle Park, NC. As the Infrastructure Hosting Manager, you will lead a team of over 40 engineers to support all aspects of the EPA internal and cloud environments. This role is defined as Key Personnel on the EPA MAINES Program and is subject to FedSim requirements and final approval.

The Infrastructure Hosting manager will provide leadership and vision to the Hosting Team to support the future of EPA and, in cooperation with EPA and Program Leadership, define the overall Hosting Architecture and provide input into design and operational activities based on best practices and tailored to the clients’ needs. In this role, the candidate should have a strong understanding of application, server, network security, and government requirements such as FISMA, FedRAMP, and ATO process.

All in all, you should bring a solid architecture background with experience conceptualizing and strategizing hosting, network, and cloud solutions.

Position is for full time employment and is remote however residency in NC is preferred.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead Team of talented Windows, Linux, VMWare, and Storage engineers to meet client requirements and meet all contracted SLA’s.
  • Serve as POC for the EPA Operations Branch Chief for strategy, guidance, and escalation of any infrastructure issues
  • Serve as a Key Member of the Service Delivery Management Team, assisting the Service Delivery Manager in guaranteeing excellence in Service Delivery and carrying out the mission to assist EPA in its IT Transformation.
  • Participate in the product evaluation and selection process
  • Provide architecture expertise to the program team and government staff, and assist in development of products and deliverables to further the strategy and goals of a large government organization that is in transition
  • Provide management of research and evaluation of current market trends, best practices and preferred architectural approach to ensure the solution matches services/agency needs


Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelors and 10+ years IT knowledge and demonstrated hands-on experience in server systems engineering and administration or network engineering (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Experience planning, designing, and upgrading complex IT infrastructure environments similar in size and scope to EPA MAINES *
  • Minimum of five years of experience directing daily operations of departments, analyzing workflow, establishing priorities, developing standards, and setting deadlines *
  • Minimum of five years of experience managing complex IT infrastructure and developing scalable enterprise technology strategies across multiple platforms *
  • Subject Matter Expert in Hosting Technologies, including professional experience architecting and operating solutions built using Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, VMware, and various storage platforms. *
  • Understanding of Cloud technologies (VPC, RDS, IAM, Storage, ELB) and others
  • Experience with High-Availability, Fault Tolerance, Scalability, Database Concepts, System and Software
  • Understanding of application, server, and network security and government requirements such as FISMA/FedRAMP
  • Direct experience in an enterprise large-scale hosted computing environment
  • Knowledge and experience with client server and cloud computing (private, public, and hybrid).
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with customer stakeholders to operate and enhance IT infrastructure to align with client business portfolios and service-level requirements *

Competencies:

  • Must possess strong organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrated experience working with senior level stakeholders
  • Ability to convey complex technical concepts to less technical audiences is critical.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly
  • Must be able to work in a matrix organization
  • Must be able to articulate hosting/cloud technologies and approaches to all levels of customer and contractor personnel

Desired:

  • Continuous integration/continuous deployment environments are strongly preferred
  • A professional-level cloud certification in either the AWS or MS Azure *
  • Current Project Management Professional certification (Project Management Professional) or PgMP *
  • A minimum of five years of experience managing Agile and DevSecOps projects *
The likely salary range for this position is $153,000 - $207,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
