As a Cyber SME on an Enterprise Zero Trust Program for a DoD client, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing expert advice on complex cybersecurity challenges, offering technical interpretations and alternative solutions

  • Serving as a technical expert on executive-level project teams, guiding technical decisions and ensuring alignment with organizational goals

  • Participating in technical design reviews, providing input on security controls, architectures, and implementation strategies

  • Creating and reviewing technical documentation, ensuring clear and accurate communication of security information.

  • Training other staff in cybersecurity best practices and new technologies.

  • Analyzing threat intelligence, identify potential vulnerabilities, and develop countermeasures to prevent and mitigate cyberattacks.

  • Ensuring adherence to cybersecurity policies and standards, staying abreast of changes in regulations and industry best practices.

  • Participating in incident response efforts, helping to contain and recover from security breaches.

  • Conducting risk assessments, identify potential threats, and develop mitigation strategies.

  • Developing and delivering security awareness training programs to educate staff on cybersecurity threats.

  • Research and development of new cybersecurity technologies and solutions.

  • Work closely with other teams, including IT, legal, and compliance, to ensure a cohesive security approach.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Understanding network architectures, protocols, and devices for securing networks and protecting against attacks.

  • Knowledge of different operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.) and their security features

  • Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., Python, C++, Java) for tasks like scripting, security tool development, and understanding code vulnerabilities.

  • Deep understanding of security concepts, including risk management, cryptography, and incident response

  • Proficiency in using security tools, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and vulnerability scanners, is essential.

  • Understanding cloud security principles and practices

  • Strong analytical abilities to identify, assess, and resolve security issues effectively

  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Ability to adapt effectively to evolving threats

  • String teamwork and collaboration skills

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Deep knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, DoD Zero Trust) and industry best practices and well-versed in security standards and regulations.

  • Understanding cloud security practices and staying current on emerging threats.

  • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills.

  • Experience with penetration testing, incident response, and intrusion detection.

  • Strong foundational knowledge of operating systems, networking, and coding.

  • Ability to automate tasks and create tools for security analysis.

Desired Skills/Knowledge:

  • Experience working in a DoD STIG and RMF environment.

  • Experience in automation for cyber security.

  • Experience working with SIEM/SOAR tools.

  • Experience working with UEM/EDR/XDR platforms.

  • Current Secret clearance

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level III certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in field like Computer Science. Information Technology, or other related fields

  • 5+ years of experience

The likely salary range for this position is $114,750 - $155,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
