As a Senior Systems Administrator on an Enterprise Zero Trust Program for a DoD client, your responsibilities will include:
Providing technical guidance and mentorship to other system administrators and IT staff.
Managing and maintaining various enterprise-level systems, including operating systems, applications, and related software.
Designing, implementing, and configuring system policies, standards, and procedures.
Investigating, diagnosing, and resolving complex system issues, including hardware, software, and networking problems.
Scheduling, monitoring, and performing system backups and data recovery.
Implementing and maintaining network security tools and procedures, including firewalls, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems.
Analyzing system capacity requirements and optimizing resource utilization.
Creating and maintaining detailed documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
Leading and coordinating medium-to-large scale system administration projects.
Working effectively with other IT staff, users, and vendors.
Leading and managing changes in systems and processes.
Planning for future IT needs and ensuring that systems are secure, scalable, and resilient.
Understanding business needs and aligning IT solutions with those needs.
Basic Qualifications:
10+ years of demonstrable experience in system administration and support of a large client-server-based IT enterprise.
Expertise in system management, troubleshooting, and security best practices.
Knowledge of network fundamentals, protocols, and troubleshooting.
Experience with security concepts, protocols, and tools.
Familiarity with database systems and their administration.
Ability to create and maintain scripts for automation and system administration tasks.
Effective communication skills are needed for interacting with colleagues, users, and stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential for troubleshooting and resolving issues.
Ability to coordinate efforts across multiple teams and departments.
Managing complex projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
Negotiate with vendors, manage contracts, and build strong relationships.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
Current Secret clearance
Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash, Python, or PowerShell is needed for automation and system administration.
Knowledge of network architecture and TCP/IP.
Deep understanding of Windows, Linux, and UNIX server environments.
Experience with virtualization platforms like VMware or Hyper-V.
Experience with containerization platforms like Kubernetes, Docker, Tanzu, OpenShift, etc.
Experience with ICAM, IdP, IdM, MFA technologies.
Strong ability to troubleshoot system integration and performance issues.
Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Desired Skills/Knowledge:
Experience working in DoD NIPR/SIPR/DDIL environments.
Experience with identity federation tools (Okta, Ping Identity, CyberArk, RSA SecurID, etc.)
Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Certifications like those from Cisco, Microsoft, or Red Hat.
Security+ certification
Bachelor’s degree in field like Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
