Overview

As a Vice President of Software Engineering, you will lead software development within our organization. You will drive technical excellence, ensure engineering best practices, and align technology strategies with business objectives. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with deep technical expertise, strong business acumen, and a proven track record of leading Agile transformations to elevate team performance and delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership:
    • Lead and oversee all software engineering activities, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and secure solutions.
    • Drive the adoption of modern development methodologies, tools, and frameworks to enhance team productivity and product quality.
    • Ensure alignment with industry standards and compliance requirements specific to healthcare technology.
  • Agile Transformation and Process Improvement:
    • Champion and lead Agile transformation initiatives across the engineering organization, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
    • Develop and implement Agile frameworks and practices that align with business objectives and scale across teams.
    • Mentor teams and leaders on Agile principles, roles, and responsibilities to maximize efficiency and adaptability.
  • Strategic Alignment:
    • Collaborate with executive leadership to define technology roadmaps that support business objectives.
    • Bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring alignment on priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
    • Evaluate emerging technologies and trends to identify opportunities for innovation and competitive advantage.
  • Team Development and Management:
    • Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing software engineering team.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
    • Drive initiatives to improve team efficiency and retention.
  • Process and Best Practices:
    • Establish and enforce engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, CI/CD, and documentation.
    • Implement metrics and KPIs to measure engineering team performance and product success.
    • Promote an Agile mindset and champion lean software development practices.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Work closely with product management, operations, and other business units to ensure cohesive planning and execution.
    • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Act as a key advisor on technology investments and resource allocation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field strongly preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of leading successful Agile transformations and software development initiatives, preferably in healthcare or regulated industries.
  • Deep understanding of software development lifecycle, modern architectural patterns, and cloud technologies.
  • Hands-on knowledge of programming languages, frameworks, and DevOps practices.
  • Familiarity with healthcare-specific technologies, standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR), and regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to build and scale teams in dynamic environments
