Job Title: HVAC Technician

Department: Technical Operations

Reports To: Cellular Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

SUMMARY:

Repair, service and install HVAC units at remote cell sites as well as Corporate and sales store locations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Installs, services and repairs heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems at cell sites and as needed within the company.
2. Identifying maintenance risks on equipment.
3. Test electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances at Cell Sites and as needed within the company.
4. Performing emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
5. Keeping daily logs and records of all maintenance functions.
6. Complies with Safety Regulations.
7. Assist in the installation of new cell sites.
8. Maintains clean and orderly work area.
9. Must maintain schedule and attendance as required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

1. Position requires high school diploma or general education degree (GED); and
2. Minimum 1-year experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3. Employee must demonstrate professionalism when communicating with co-workers, supervisors, customers, vendors, etc...
4. Employee must have at least 1year experience working with HVAC systems
5. Employee must have an active HVAC License.
6. Must be able to read, operate, and properly utilize all tools associated with installing, servicing, and repairing HVAC systems.
7. Must maintain a valid driver’s license.

NICHE SKILLS:

Requires basic technical or professional experience specific to wireless communications or related industry. Requires knowledge of industry terminology and general operating procedures relative to one’s own job. Average recruitment period is up to 6 weeks with standard recruitment effort.

MENTAL EFFORT AND ANALYTICAL ABILITY:

Position requires some mental effort or analytical ability in order to gather and interpret information, but is limited to situations where the problems are not difficult or complex.

VISUAL AND/OR PHYSICAL STRAIN:

Work produces a high level of mental/visual/physical fatigue, up to and including 20% of work time.

CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:

This position frequently (21% to 50% of work time) requires contact with others within and/or outside the company. Matters discussed and decisions made are of a routine nature.

INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT AND CONSEQUENCE OF ERROR:

Work is performed in accordance with specific procedures but incumbents must set priorities, organize work and make occasional exceptions. Errors may cause some inconvenience and confusion but very little cost in time, money or public/employee good will.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Position has minimal or no responsibility for the work of others. Where there is responsibility, work done by subordinate Associates is primarily simple or routine in nature. Supervision requires frequent contact to assign, prioritize and check work.

WORK CONDITIONS:

Job involves frequent exposure to one or more unpleasant (noise, dust, etc.) or hazardous conditions 21% to 50% of total work time.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Climb stairs and/or ladders

Lift boxes weighing approximately 1 to 80 pounds

Work under pressure in order to meet strict deadlines or respond to emergencies

Differentiate between colors

Travel daily and/or overnight

Communicate orally and in writing in an excellent manner

Operate general office equipment (i.e., fax machine, photocopier, computer printer) stationed between 3 and 4 feet high

Sit for long periods of time

Stand for long periods of time.

Concentrate for prolonged periods of time

Maintain attendance according to company policy

Provide on-call services upon short notice

Work on elevated surfaces and confined spaces.
