Job Description

Job Title: Information Technologies Supervisor

Department: Information Technologies (IT)

Reports To: Information Technologies Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

EEO-1: 02-First/Mid-Level Managers

SUMMARY:

Supervises IT Support and Systems Administration services, including updating, replacing, repairing, and troubleshooting computers. Evaluates new products and potential solutions to existing needs and makes recommendations according to system capabilities, projected user requirements, and budget. Recommends purchasing equipment as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Supervises IT Systems Administration and Support Operations and Projects as the first escalation point for IT Support issues.
  2. Supervises PC, Mac, and Chromebook workstation deployment, desktop support, Active Directory, MDM/MFA solutions, email, Linux and Windows servers, databases, storage, backup solutions, monitoring, and virtualization/containerization platforms.
  3. Makes recommendations to the IT Manager for improving IT infrastructure.
  4. Oversees the IT Purchasing process, including Hardware/Software/License Purchases, Ink/Toner Purchases, Purchase Order Creation, Order Reconciliation, and Invoice approval. Oversees the Employee Computer Purchase program.
  5. Oversees IT Asset Tracking (hardware, software, service contracts, and consumables).
  6. Oversees the assignment of IT trouble tickets. Follows up on outstanding trouble tickets. Produces formalized reports/dashboards of Trouble Ticket System metrics, comparing results to established KPIs. Presents reports/dashboards to the IT Manager.
  7. Trains end-users on hardware and software features and usage.
  8. Suggests and adheres to company-wide Information Security measures. Advises employees of these policies and procedures. Reports violations to Leadership as appropriate.
  9. Escalates issues to and seeks necessary approvals from the IT Manager as needed.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

1. Position requires an Associate’s Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school;

2. Minimum 2 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

3. Position requires solid knowledge of:

a. Network structure and protocols

b. Database concepts and administration

c. Web technologies and design, and client/server relationships

d. Windows, Linux, and Mac operating systems

NICHE SKILLS:

Requires specialized skills at the management level, which require broad knowledge and experience in the wireless industry. The average recruitment period is 6 weeks to 3 months with a standard recruitment effort.

MENTAL EFFORT AND ANALYTICAL ABILITY:

A high level of mental effort or analytical ability is required in order to gather and interpret complex information and to find solutions to unusual and difficult problems.

VISUAL AND/OR PHYSICAL STRAIN:

Work regularly produces a high level of mental, visual, and/or physical fatigue between 51% and 80% of work time.

CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:

This position very frequently (51% to 80% of work time) requires contact with others within and/or outside the company. Matters of some financial, procedural or relational importance are discussed. The overall success of the Company may or may not be influenced by decisions made.

INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT AND CONSEQUENCE OF ERROR:

Assignments are received in the form of expected results, but incumbents have considerable freedom to decide on work priorities and procedures to be followed. Errors result in significant impact in terms of cost, time, money, or public/employee goodwill, such as delays in important projects or schedules.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Position requires direct supervision of 1-4 people. Work done by subordinate Associates is partly based on standard procedure and partly discretionary. Supervision requires oversight of work and assistance with non-standard circumstances.

WORK CONDITIONS:

Job is performed under good working conditions, almost completely absent of disagreeable elements. Associate is exposed to adverse or hazardous working conditions 5% or less of total work time.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Climb stairs and/or ladders

Lift boxes weighing approximately 1 to 100 pounds

Work under pressure in order to meet strict deadlines or respond to emergencies

Operate general office equipment (i.e., fax machine, photocopier, computer printer) stationed between 3 and 4 feet high

Maintain attendance according to company policy

Provide on-call services upon short notice
