Overview

The System Director will work both independently and in multidisciplinary teams to develop, prioritize, implement, analyze, and monitor quality assurance via quality improvement projects using standardized tools and processes based on the goals and objectives of the department across the continuum of surgical care. This role will also function as a facilitator, educator, consultant, leader and analyst and is responsible for ensuring that all OR processes and procedures comply with the latest guidelines from the CDC, AAMI, AORN, and other applicable governing agencies. Areas of focus include Surgical and Procedural Departments, Sterile Processing Departments, and all areas where High Level Disinfection is performed including Endoscopy, TEE, and Ultrasound.

Responsibilities

Responsible, reliable, detail-oriented, adaptive, and positive-minded with the ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all members of the health care team.

Able to communicate in writing and verbally in a positive, clear, and concise manner to members of all levels of the organization, including via digital technology.

Utilizes best practices in change management combined with embedding change into digital systems to foster successful change

Ability to function independently and manage multiple, simultaneous projects

Effective analytical ability to develop and analyze options, recommend solutions to and solve complex problems and issues

Is skilled in using software including Microsoft Office Suite (such as Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and PowerPoint), data base management (to include clinical, operations, and administrative data), project management software, and electronic medical records.

Utilizes technical skills to create reports, graphs, and visual representations of data and effectively communicates these findings to teams.

Develops or supports the development of tools embedded in the electronic medical record to improve workflows and implement projects.

Performs literature reviews to identify evidence-based processes for care interventions.

Educate learners of all levels and provides support the development and execution of education systems for others in healthcare quality.

Assists in the preparation of scholarly products and presentations based on quality projects

Holds expertise in internal and external quality score cards, accreditation, regulatory standards, benchmarking, and ranking systems.

Provides quality related supervision in all related areas including Surgical Departments, Procedural locations, Sterile Processing Departments, and all areas where High Level Disinfection is performed including Endoscopy, TEE, and Transvaginal/Transrectal Ultrasound.

Continues to provide shared direction and mentorship as needed to facilities for general Infection Prevention practice.

Qualifications


Education
Bachelor’s deg. in health-related field or approved plan to achieve required.
Registered Nurse, preferred.
Master’s deg. in health-related field, preferred.
Professional Certification in either Operating Room, Sterile Processing, Quality, or Infection Prevention.
If certification is not current, must obtain within 12 months of hire.


Minimum Work Experience
5 years’ clinical experience, required.
2 years’ experience in perioperative services, clinical quality or hospital infection control , preferred.
2 years of leadership experience in perioperative services, sterile processing, or high level disinfection.

Strong patient advocate
Demonstrates familiarity with accrediting standards.
Ability to analyze, interpret and present complex information and statistical data
Demonstrated ability to lead change
Strong knowledge of CQI tools and techniques and methodology knowledge/experience involving lean principles, total quality management, PDCA, rapid cycle improvement or other frameworks
Highly developed organizational skills
Strong leadership skills, attention to detail and excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
