Overview
Provide leadership for the Emergency Departments, Cath Lab, Telemetry, Observation Unit and Critical Care Unit along with other entities within the cardiac service line to promote excellence in cardiac patient care. This position will also assist in the planning, development and implementation of program goals and operations. Coordinates and oversees the ongoing Chest Pain Accreditation to improve care of the cardiac patient population. Work with the local hospitals and EMS teams to help streamline processes set forth by the ACC and AHA guidelines to improve cardiac care.
Responsibilities
- Assist and recommends protocols and guidelines for best practice treatment of cardiac patients across the continuum of care
- Oversees the tracking process for data related to throughput of the cardiac patients and provides data to the Chest Pain Committee to initiate changes as appropriate and to improve outcomes
- Completes annual education on process improvement and data utilization
- Steers the Chest Pain Committee in alignment with the overall facility strategic goals
- Work in a collegial manner with the Chest Pain Medical Director to ensure continuity in care of cardiac patients and quality outcomes
- Assists in the development of strategic plans for the growth of Cardiology Services
- Works closely with Emergency Medical Services to ensure optimal continuity of care, from pre-hospital to hospital and coordinates educational and process improvement activities
- Collaborates with the Chest Pain Medical Director on educational offerings to peers and colleagues regarding ACS patient care protocols and management
- Participates in cardiac research studies as appropriate to facilitate care
- Works closely with the quality coordinator to ensure metrics are in place to show continuous improvement in the care of the ACS patient and for data reporting
- Acts as a resource internally and in the community regarding educating others about Early Heart Care (EHAC), Hands-only CPR, and the ACS clinical care
- Represents the hospital at a local regional and national level related to best practices for ACS patients. Speaks at educational conferences and become involved with the ADD Accreditation Services and Providers
- Assures compliance with all regulatory agencies and guidelines
- Performs such other duties as reasonably requested by or otherwise necessary to properly assist the operations of the Chest Pain Centers and Cardiovascular Services
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree health care field Required
- 4-6 years At least 3-5 years involved in the direct care of the ACS patient in either the ED, Cath Lab, ICU, or Telemetry Units. Preferred
- Working knowledge of problem solving and decision making skills.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Working knowledge of digital literacy skills.
- Ability to deal tactfully with customers and community.
- Ability to handle sensitive information ethically and responsibly.
- Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
- Ability to function in clinical setting with diverse cultural dynamics of clinical staff and patients.
