Overview
Under the supervision of the Director of Facility Services, has primary responsibility for accomplishing minor corrective maintenance and major additions and alterations to the Hospital Physical Plant to typical mechanical and electrical plant systems, revamping and door control adjustments. Has primary responsibility for accomplishing and recording minor physical and mechanical plant work order requests as assigned by the Director of Facility Services. Corrective type repairs to restore buildings and mechanical plant equipment to its original or normal condition includes, but is not limited to, minor and major carpentry work and minor and major electrical work.
Responsibilities
- Performs and logs pre‑established general rounds, accomplishing minor and major Physical Plant corrective maintenance. Based on deficiencies noted during rounds and Work Order assignments, performs corrective maintenance noted on rounds.
- Has primary responsibility for accomplishing and recording minor and major physical and mechanical plant work order requests, corrective type repairs to restore buildings and mechanical plant equipment to its original or normal condition.
- Working from Work Orders, verbal instructions or detailed specifications, diagrams, sketches or plans, coordinates activities with other Hospital trade sections to expedite work, reads blueprints and specifications to determine procedure of constructing building systems and components.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
- High School/GED equivalent or Vocational School graduate.
Minimum Work Experience
- Three to five years’ maintenance experience in a building trade setting, military or other related experience preferred.
- Demonstration of his/her ability to operate and maintain typical maintenance tools in accomplishing general utility maintenance is desirable in this job description.
- Knowledge of proper and safe use of hand and power tools.
- Basic understanding of building physical plant systems such as door hardware, ceiling systems, assembly of carts and shelving systems, basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Required to comply with OSHA regulations for the N95 respirator training and fit testing. Must be compliant at the beginning of each scheduled work shift.
- Adheres to infection control policies and guidelines appropriate for their work area. Hand hygiene and PPE requirements followed when appropriate.
