DESCRIPTION

Software Development Engineer - Simulation

Amazon Robotics Virtual Systems Team is seeking a talented and innovative Software Development Engineer to join our pioneering simulation team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of developing advanced simulation products that are crucial to the future of robotics and automation at Amazon.

Our team is dedicated to creating state-of-the-art simulation solutions that span across synthetic data generation, hardware emulation, and sensor emulation. These tools are essential for accelerating the development and testing of robotic systems, improving their performance, and reducing time-to-market for new robotics technologies.

Key job responsibilities
As an SDE specializing in simulation, you will:

Have strong experience in graphics programming and physics simulation, with a passion for pushing boundaries in virtual environments. You'll design and implement high-fidelity physics simulations, develop graphics programming solutions, collaborate on hardware and sensor emulation, optimize performance, and contribute to simulation tools and frameworks. Join our team of talented engineers and researchers to solve complex problems and create innovative solutions that drive the future of robotics at Amazon, shaping the next generation of simulation technologies that will revolutionize how we develop, test, and deploy robotic systems across Amazon's global operations.

A day in the life
A typical day for an SDE on the Amazon Robotics Virtual Systems Team is diverse and challenging. You'll likely start with team updates and a stand-up meeting before diving into coding tasks, such as implementing new physics models or optimizing simulations. Collaboration is crucial, involving work with graphics programmers, hardware engineers, and testers to enhance simulation fidelity and solve complex problems. You'll debug issues, participate in cross-functional meetings, and contribute to documentation and code reviews. The role balances focused individual work with team problem-solving, and includes staying abreast of emerging technologies to continually improve Amazon's robotics simulation capabilities.

Amazon offers a full range of benefits for you and eligible family members, including domestic partners and their children. Benefits can vary by location, the number of regularly scheduled hours you work, length of employment, and job status such as seasonal or temporary employment. The benefits that generally apply to regular, full-time employees include:

1. Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage
2. Maternity and Parental Leave Options
3. Paid Time Off (PTO)
4. 401(k) Plan

If you are not sure that every qualification on the list above describes you exactly, we'd still love to hear from you! At Amazon, we value people with unique backgrounds, experiences, and skillsets. If you’re passionate about this role and want to make an impact on a global scale, please apply!
